NOTD – floral nails, 2nd take

It’s October already!
Pity we don’t have 4 seasons over here in Singapore… I’d have imagined that fall would be my favorite season (well I guess spring too). It’s just the colors…

Well anyway, I’ve tried another holo-roses combination!
I’m still not great with it… while painting on the roses, instead of doing it freely, I tend to 2nd guess myself first. I’ll need to work on that…

But here it is – I’m still excited about it regardless!!

Nude holo with red/pink roses

The base color is a pretty nude/tan holo – Cherubic by Color Club. Then I used acrylic paint for the roses.

What do y’all think?  Let me know!

NOTD – Of holos and purple roses

It’s end September already! Time sure zooms past… Annnnnd I’ve still got pending cafe posts….
Well, before we go into that, check out my nails this week!

Initially, I started the week with a simple holo gradient:

image

Pretty holo 😍

I absolutely adore Color Club Holo Hues! I’m still in need of the others! Yes, in need….
On here I’ve got Kismet & Miss Bliss.  A contrasting gradient I must say, but I thought of doing something different.

Then just last night, I decided… why not doodle on these nails? Mind you, I’m not artist, but hey, never hurts to try right?
So while I was staring at my paint set, wondering what to do with my nails, I thought I’d give ‘realistic roses’ a shot.
If you’ve been following my on instagram or reading my posts, it was only a few months ago that I tried painting simple roses (well, 3 rose-manis till date…not a lot I know), so I decided to give it another go… plus I’ve seen so many beautiful floral nails on my Instagram feed! Ahhh pretty florals ♡

And heres what I got!

image

Purply roses ♡

image

♡♡♡

I actually quite liked how it came out! I will need to try other combinations and definitely practise on this!

Whaddya think about my first try on realistic roses? Let me know in the comments below 🙂

Have a great week ahead!! ☆☆☆

NOTD – Liquid Sky Lacquer Iris Illusion (Final! Part 4 of 4)

Hello!!!

Finally, the final swatch from Carolyn’s package – it is….. *drumroll* the beautiful thermal Iris Illusion!

image

Spotlight on Iris Illusion

Let’s take a look at some bottle shots…

image

This looks seemingly pensive no?

image

Iris Illusion is a beautiful thermal polish that changes from a dusty periwinkle blue when warm to a gorgeous purple when cold!
And did I mention there’s a holo quality to it? Yes! It’s a scattered holo beauty! And that holo sparkles right and bright especially in the cold purple state!!

It’s hot here in Singapore, we have sun almost all year round. So I’ve been seeing mostly blue of this polish. But, when I’m in the office, and it’s all cold, the purple shines! This is the only time I am thankful of the strong AC in the office. Haha.

Now the swatches (and hopefully my photos don’t go all wonky again…)

You can almost see the various transition states in this last picture here. Almost.

And some extra photos to see the purple goodness!

image

Dipping my fingers in ice cold water and the purple appears in an instant!

Purple with flash!

And here I made a collage of the transition…

#cressays:
This is my first thermal polish! And I love it! The polish itself was a little thick but I believe I read somewhere that this is a norm for thermal polishes because of the pigments and stuff. But application wasn’t a problem.
This is 3 coats, topped with 1 coat of HK Girl topcoat.
Dry time was a little longer. Took me about 15 mins for the surface to be more or less dry.
But the outcome was well worth it. It’s just so damn beautiful! ♡

Remember with thermals, you should always store in a cool place. Definitely not under direct light and heat.

This can be purchased at Mei Mei Signatures when restocked (currently out of stock).
Check this out along with other beauties at Liquid Sky Lacquer.

And this marks the end of my Liquid Sky Lacquer swatchathon. A big thank you once again to Carolyn, the talent behind Liquid Sky Lacquer for sending me these beauties for review. I hope to review your other pretties too! ^-^

So, have you tried any thermals? Which are your favorites?

Till next time!

NOTD – Liquid Sky Lacquer Pure Luxury (Part 3 of 4)

Hello hello!

Today I bring to you, Pure Luxury a warm gold holo.

Bottle shot of Pure Luxury

I thought this looked rather magnificent 😉

Pretty rainbow!

image

Blurred for more rainbow goodness ★

The blurred closeup shot somehow reminds me of the shiny part of an oyster shell! Whaddya think?

And now, the swatches!

Look at that! Beautiful no?
I’ll hafta be truthful, when I first painted it, I was thinking…that isn’t gold. It’s more like…sand, taupe even.
But then I finished and looked at it this morning, yup, definitely gold.

#cressays:
Pure Luxury is just pure luxurious!
Application, like her other holos, is a breeze. I used 3 coats for this swatch.
Dry time takes about 10 minutes.
I topped mine with Glisten&Glow HK Girl Topcoat and it dried almost instantly. Both on surface and inside.
The holo just shines in this one. Under strong light the beautiful holo stands right out; but even under natural light, the holo still shines from within!
And I’d say this is perfect for work or even an interview cuz it’s subtle enough.

Love holo? And gold?
Check it out on Mei Mei Signatures.
Check this out and her other colors (also her latest Halloween Collection!) on Carolyn’s Liquid Sky Lacquer site.
Also, follow Carolyn on Instagram for more updates!

So what do you of this color? 🙂

Till next time!

NOTD – Liquid Sky Lacquer Shanel’s Cyan, Swatched (Part 2 of 4)

It’s Monday again here in Singapore!
I apologise for the lack of posts. The past week was hectic for me at work. I end work at around midnight on average and even had to go back during weekends. So I am exhausted….

But here I am again, bringing you another beautiful color from Carolyn at Liquid Sky Lacquer – Shanel’s Cyan.

Every bottle from Carolyn is carefully placed in a bag like such:

And now… the bottle shots…

image

And the close-ups… (spot the rainbow!)

image

Under natural sunlight, beautiful teal/cyan color ♥

image

Blurred rainbow goodness!

image

Just look at that!

image

Cyan – the in between of blue and green. It’s a beautiful shade, and it’s been one of my recent favorite shades (teals/mints/cyan – you get the idea)
Then…. holo is added to the mix. How can I not love it??!

Let’s swatch it already!

Indoors with natural light

Oh just look at that!
My mum complimented this color this morning before I left for work!

#cressays:
2 coats was enough for sub-opacity – meaning it looks opaque, but i still spot VNL (visible nail line) at certain angles…
And hence, I did 3 coats. Only then did the full potential shiiiiiine! The color was brought out to its maximum and so was the holo!
Dry time was normal, was still a little tacky after about 7 mins or so but I topped it off with HK Girl top coat by Glisten&Glow and the surface dried instantly! Annnnnd, it helped the holo shine even more!
image

Well, if you love holo, you love teal/cyan shades, you need to get Shanel’s Cyan!!

It’s available at Mei Mei Signatures (free local shipping; ships internationally) and of course on Carolyn’s Liquid Sky Lacquer site.
The topcoat is also available on both Mei Mei Signatures and Glisten and Glow.

Have you tried Shanel’s Cyan and/or HK Girl Topcoat? What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Till next time!

NOTD – Liquid Sky Lacquer Sugared Berry, Swatched (Part 1 of 4)

Happy Thursday!

Last night I came home to an amazing nail mail! Carolyn from Liquid Sky Lacquer sent me 4 beauties to review!
They are packed individually in a beautiful bag!

image

Aren’t they pretty? ♥

It’s the peak period at work for me now so I’ll be breaking this into 4 parts.
Firstly, I present to you Sugared Berries!

image

Sugared Berries bottle shot

Sugared Berries is a beautiful liliac holo polish.
To me, the “sugared” in this is the holo, and “berries” is well, the color!

image

Just look at that beautiful holo!

image

Blurred with rainbow goodness!

Just look at the closeup shots! It’s just gorgeous no?

So I swatched it happily, looking at the holo-ness dance under the light as the polish spreads.

#cressays:
Application was great, the brush is genius! It just needs 2 coats to opacity.
Dry time was good too, I waited for about 5 mins and the surface was more or less not tacky. So I waited for 5 more minutes before I stamp my nails.

Alright, enough words, let the pictures do the talking!

Here’s the design my left hand:

And on my right hand:

And what’s holo without some sunlight action??

Look at it sparkle! I’m staring at my nails while typing this now. That holo sparkle right under light ♥

If you love purple and you love holo and sparkles, you need this!

You can see more of Carolyn’s polishes on her site.
Be sure to follow her on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram for updates and swatches.

You can also get Sugared Berries on Mei Mei Signatures.

And free local (Singapore) normal postage.
