Cups N Canvas – coffee meets art

Hello! I’m catching up on my cafe posts now…

Today I have for you….. *drumroll please*… CUPS N CANVAS!
Don’t you just love their logo??

Le best friend and I had a little walk along Selegie Road after our dinner one night at Plaza Singapura. I wanted to try their sweet potato latte! So off we went in search of this *elusive* drink…

We ordered the French Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream, a Latte for her and a Sweet Potato Latte for moi~

The top-down shot

Her latte:

Ahhh… the cake was warm and moist! Paired with the vanilla ice cream it was mmmmm yummy πŸ™‚

My purple latte!

I’m a purple lover so this is just soooooooooo pretty to look at!
The place we were seated at wasn’t too brightly lit hence this is not a true representation of the color. The purple looked so much better in real life! And with the lil bits of sweet potato, it was yummy! (Tho I do feel it tasted a lil like warm bubur cha-cha. heh)

Cups N Canvas is a pretty good place to just chill and relax while catching up with friends. Their mains looked good too! I may prolly drop by again to try them.
Also, they conduct art classes too! You can check it out together with their cafe menu here.

Cups N Canvas is located at:
139 Selegie Road
Singapore 188309

Have you been to Cups N Canvas? Let me know what mains are a must-try! TIA~

Saturday with the GFFs β™‘

Hello hello! I know it’s been a while. I’ve been so caught up with everything else that I’ve neglected this blog. (._.)

Well today I went with my GFFs to watch Hossan Leong’s A Singaporean in Paris!

It was sooooooo good. Magnifique! The set, the songs, the singing, the performance was wow. I really enjoyed myself! We thought of perhaps buying a copy of their CD or something cuz we really enjoyed the songs but alas, there was none.

After that, we went to Createaf Waffles (located at the 1st level of The Cathay) for some waffles that we’ve been craving for weeks!

Createaf Waffles

And we ordered a set “meal” each ($12.50). Each set comes with your choice of waffles and drinks. When you do the math, it’s pretty worth it – if you’re getting drinks along with your waffle that is. Each waffle set is priced at $9.90, and drinks are mostly $4.90 to $5.50.

Here’s what we got:
Sinfully Chocolate

Sinfully Chocolate with vanilla ice cream

Sinfully Chocolate was, well, all chocolate. Reeeeally sinful. It was waffles topped with chocolate syrup & coco crunch. The vanilla ice cream was made with actual vanilla beans so it’s fragrant.
Anyone who has baked and used vanilla beans before can tell you that it’s faaaaaar from what you get with the regular vanilla essence/flavor you get from stores. Really different. But they’re so hard to get (and so expensive here in Singapore! Le sigh~)
Okay, back to the topic at hand…

Banana Chocolate

Ahhh. An all time favorite combination. Who doesn’t love the good ol’ banana and chocolate combi! Again, sooooo sinful yet so good! I’m not a lover of matcha green tea ice cream but my GF said it was good, and she left it to the last to slowly savor it…

Merry Berry

Merry Berry with hazelnut ice cream

Before I go on… let’s take a look at the closeup of this baby…

All those fresh strawberries and blueberries! β™‘

This was my choice of waffles. I wanted to go for something chocolate but those 2 ladies already chose it, so I went for this and boy was I pleased with my choice! The maple syrup at the side was the cherry on top, it complemented so well. Strawberries and blueberries were fresh and sweet too. Really hits the spot this one! Absolutely loved it! β™‘

And my choice of drink was a Roasted Tea Latte:

It’s basically roasted oolong tea with milk (thus the ‘latte’). Not my wisest choice but I thought I’d go with something different… the smell was really overpowering, and I only managed to get through half a cup.
Buuuuut, that elephant on top! Ain’t it cute!!

First a play, then waffles – this is the life!

Till next time~

Made my own macarons!

Hello hello!

So I made some macarons on Tuesday!

Some round ones….

Then some cute-shaped ones….

The cute-shaped ones didn’t turn out as well… maybe they were a little undercooked…

But the round ones turned out great!

I’m proud of myself *pats my own back*
Not too shabby hey πŸ™‚

Have you tried making your own macarons? What flavors have you tried? Let me know!!

Till next time β™₯

Foodie time with le mummy β™‘

Goooooooood morning/afternoon/evening (depending on where you are and what time you’re reading this) πŸ™‚

So I took the day off yesterday and spent some time with my mum. We went in search for foooooood.

First up, Bear Bites @ *SCAPE

This hails from Taiwan, famous in one of its night markets, and it’s now in Singapore!
I first saw this on a local paper when they first started out. And the pictures were just too cute!
I tried to bug the boyfriend to go with me but he wasn’t interested, at all. Boo.
Then, on Tuesday night, a food show on Channel 8 recommended it and that is how I convinced my mum to go with me.

The first thing you see right outside is these signs:

We ordered 1 set to share.
We went with the Chicken + Oat bun + Mushroom sauce meal (I.e. fries and a bottle of green tea) – $8 (the sauce was $0.20).

It’s like eating “kong ba pao” (a type of bun with braised pork – picture of it later) but with fried chicken. That was the idea that inspired this actually – the fusion of Western and Asian.
The bun was really soft! But the chicken was….not really well marinated. I munched on a part that was tasteless and one part was marinated… so that could be improved I suppose πŸ™‚
As for the fries, I’m not a fan cuz it’s all soggy.
Overall it was a nice experience! But am not sure if I’ll go back there anytime soon.
Oh and this is the “kong ba pao” I was referring to…

This was dinner tonight!
Usually it’s without the roman lettuce but I like to add some in mine to make it crunchy and it helps with the taste πŸ™‚

Back to yesterday….

Next stop – dessert!
We headed to Taiwan Xiao Chi at Centrepoint.
Again, the food show the night before featured their dessert – one of my all time fav Taiwanese dessert – sweet potato and yam chewy balls θ•ƒθ–―ε’ŒθŠ‹εœ† (not sure how to describe it…)

White - Yam; Orange - Sweet Potato

Pretty disappointed on first looks

But, boy were we disappointed…
1) out of 3 base choices, there was only 1 left (warm grass jelly) as the cold options were “out of stock”
2) the “warm” grass jelly is cold on the inside… so…that’s not really warm now is it…
3) I wanted to get this “mango and coconut noodle ” dessert – sounds interesting no? BUT, the coconut noodles was (again) out of stock

So we got this instead…

Which was like chicken floss, some egg and cauliflower with some chilli flakes wrapped around with instant prata (those frozen one you can get in supermarkets).
Nope, not impressed.

The dessert was alright…. nothing fantastic, nothing like the one advertised on TV….
I much prefer the one at Blackball. That IS da bomb. I need to go back there and get one soon…
And well, you should know how I feel about the other one…

In the evening, we went to have some hor fun!

This is yummy! A lil salty, but it was gooooooood. So at least our day ended well!

So there it was, my foodie day with le mummy. It’s nice spending time with her after a hectic period at work πŸ™‚

Oh, and happy mid autumn festival!
Here is what I bought for my mum…

And this is what she made! Shanghai yam mooncakes!

Look at the moon tonight! It’s exceptionally round and bright πŸ™‚

So what did you do today?
What’s your latest food adventure?
Would you give the Bear Bites a try?

Till next time!

Froyo yo!

Happy mid week! We survived the first half of the week!

Work has taken a toll on me, but it ain’t the peak yet. Next week…. that’s the “terrible” part. Long hours and late nights, here I come.

So anyways…
After lunch, me and a colleague went to Red Mango to get some froyo! We both got the original flavor, hers topped with mango while mine topped with banana crunch.

Froyoooooooo~ β˜…

Yummmmm. It was my first time trying the banana crunch topping and I love it! I want MOOOOOOORE! And I’m now craving for Banana Nut Crunch cereal too (._.)

Well I’m hoping to do my nails soon, I’m still wearing the Lilas one… it’s holding on pretty good I must say, no visible chips no displacement of glitter! To think I didn’t use a topcoat!

On a separate note, I received an email from Kiroi (owner of Kiroi Cheese Cake) saying that there were new faces going down to the shop in Golden Mile since 2 days ago! The owner thinks my posting and review helped! So yay to you readers! I’m hoping to drop by for a visit soon πŸ™‚

Have you tried anything from Kiroi Cheese Cake? Let me know what you think!

Well now we have 2 more days till the weekend! If I can do it, you can too!

Sunday Macaroon Day β™₯

Today was a beautiful Sunday!
Just look at these clouds!

I’m a cloud lover, so that made my day. Haha.

Then my mum got me some macaroons from Delifrance! I’m not a big macaroon fan but they’re so pretty to photograph!
This was my box:

Purple = Praline (I think)
Pink = Rose
White = Vanilla
Brown = Chocolate

Then, my sis exchanged some with me and I got more colors!

Yellow = Lemon
Light Brown = Coffee

And then I took just a couple more pictures of these pretty colors…

Macaroon pastel rainbow β™‘

Well I love the purple one the best, then the chocolate. The coffee one had a really strong and distinct coffee smell, and it smells really good. I gave that to my mum since she’s a coffee lover, and she needs to share what she got us! ^^

After that, my day was just all tidying the rooms and household chores. So I haven’t gotten a chance to play with my stamps yet 😦 I hope I will be able to do it soon…

So about macaroons, where do you think has the best macaroons? I haven’t tried any others before, so let me know!

Have a great week ahead!
