NOTD – Pink nails for October

Happy midweek!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month – wearing pink shows your support and awareness.
Breast cancer is the no.1 killer for women in Singapore. So ladies, remember to do your regular checkups and see a doctor when you suspect possible symptoms!

I did simple pink nails for BCA 2014.
First time dealing with rhinestones and turned out ok πŸ™‚

Think Pink. Fight like a Girl.

Remember to spread the awareness. And not only just this month, but all year round. Ignorance can be one’s downfall too.

Till next time ladies πŸ™‚

NOTD – floral nails, 2nd take

It’s October already!
Pity we don’t have 4 seasons over here in Singapore… I’d have imagined that fall would be my favorite season (well I guess spring too). It’s just the colors…

Well anyway, I’ve tried another holo-roses combination!
I’m still not great with it… while painting on the roses, instead of doing it freely, I tend to 2nd guess myself first. I’ll need to work on that…

But here it is – I’m still excited about it regardless!!

Nude holo with red/pink roses

The base color is a pretty nude/tan holo – Cherubic by Color Club. Then I used acrylic paint for the roses.

A different pose....

What do y’all think?  Let me know!

Till next time!

NOTD – Of holos and purple roses

It’s end September already! Time sure zooms past… Annnnnd I’ve still got pending cafe posts….
Well, before we go into that, check out my nails this week!

Initially, I started the week with a simple holo gradient:

Pretty holo 😍

I absolutely adore Color Club Holo Hues! I’m still in need of the others! Yes, in need….
On here I’ve got Kismet & Miss Bliss.  A contrasting gradient I must say, but I thought of doing something different.

Then just last night, I decided… why not doodle on these nails? Mind you, I’m not artist, but hey, never hurts to try right?
So while I was staring at my paint set, wondering what to do with my nails, I thought I’d give ‘realistic roses’ a shot.
If you’ve been following my on instagram or reading my posts, it was only a few months ago that I tried painting simple roses (well, 3 rose-manis till date…not a lot I know), so I decided to give it another go… plus I’ve seen so many beautiful floral nails on my Instagram feed! Ahhh pretty florals β™‘

And heres what I got!

Purply roses β™‘

I actually quite liked how it came out! I will need to try other combinations and definitely practise on this!

Whaddya think about my first try on realistic roses? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚

Have a great week ahead!! β˜†β˜†β˜†

NOTD – Galaxy Nails

Happy Monday morning!

A quick post on my first attempt on galaxy nails! I realised how long it’s been since my last nail post….

Well here you go! It’s not too shabby eh! At least from my perspective πŸ™‚
I was pretty apprehensive in doing this initially but it turned out to be pretty easy! I just needed to remind myself not to be tooooo precise. Hahaha.

A closeup...

Let me know what you think!

Have a great week y’all! β™‘

I used these nails for this Sally Hansen SG facebook nailart contest (ends 19 Sep, 3pm (GMT +8)! If you like it, help me like it here.

Cups N Canvas – coffee meets art

Hello! I’m catching up on my cafe posts now…

Today I have for you….. *drumroll please*… CUPS N CANVAS!
Don’t you just love their logo??

Le best friend and I had a little walk along Selegie Road after our dinner one night at Plaza Singapura. I wanted to try their sweet potato latte! So off we went in search of this *elusive* drink…

We ordered the French Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream, a Latte for her and a Sweet Potato Latte for moi~

The top-down shot

Her latte:

Ahhh… the cake was warm and moist! Paired with the vanilla ice cream it was mmmmm yummy πŸ™‚

My purple latte!

I’m a purple lover so this is just soooooooooo pretty to look at!
The place we were seated at wasn’t too brightly lit hence this is not a true representation of the color. The purple looked so much better in real life! And with the lil bits of sweet potato, it was yummy! (Tho I do feel it tasted a lil like warm bubur cha-cha. heh)

Cups N Canvas is a pretty good place to just chill and relax while catching up with friends. Their mains looked good too! I may prolly drop by again to try them.
Also, they conduct art classes too! You can check it out together with their cafe menu here.

Cups N Canvas is located at:
139 Selegie Road
Singapore 188309

Have you been to Cups N Canvas? Let me know what mains are a must-try! TIA~

East Escapade – The Coastal Settlement & Chock Full of Beans

After hearing all the raving reviews (well, reading) & friends’ recommendations on The Coastal Settlement & Chock Full of Beans (well their cute latte art caught my attention actually…), a couple of us decided that it’s time to give it a go.

Located at the faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar East, I thought it’d be impossible to get there by mere public transport (not including cabs of course). But lo and behold, it’s actually possible! Like there was a bus stop right outside of Β TCS! The journey of course was a long one…

We reached The Coastal SettlementΒ at around 3ish?4ish? And they don’t serve mains at that time, so we settled on sides. We wanted to order the wagyu beef cubes but it was out, so we settled on truffle fries (which imo was a tad oily and not too frangrant) & calamari rings.

Le friend ordered this black forest in a jar dessert, he said it was normal, no wow factor.

While I didn’t take many photos of the food like my previous posts, I did take photos of the surroundings. It’s a nice place to just chill and relax. Though I’ve also heard their dinner is pretty good (and there’s always a queue…).

After that, we took a bus straight to Changi Village interchange and headed to Chock Full of Beans for coffee.

We ordered a Caramel Machiatto, Β a Rose Latte, and an iced Hazelnut Latte with the 3D foam art!

Caramel Machiatto with Spongebob

Rose Latte with Pooh bear and petals

Iced Hazelnut Latte with a 3D foam kitty!!!

Mine was the rose latte and I enjoyed it! The aroma from the rose and the coffee blended well together, and it’s not too sweet.

Would I go back to either again? Well, it depends. The long journey by train and bus can be quite tiring, so unless I’m really craving for something that only either can offer (like the 3D foam kitty…), chances are pretty slim. Though of course if I happen to be around the East area, perhaps I’ll drop by again.

The Tiramisu Hero – a Roman cat mascot called Sir Antonio

I admit, I’m a bad blogger… Heck, I’m terrible. I just checked and my last post was April…

While I have soooooo many things to post – cafes I’ve been to, nailart to share, I haven’t found the time to do so.

Yes yes, some may say we should try and commit some time to write our posts, but hey, I haven’t got a laptop at home, and typing a whole chunk of words on my mobile via the wordpress app is tiring. Super.tiring.

Well, back to the subject matter at hand…

I visited this cafe back in April and that marked the start of my monthly cafe hopping trips with my longtime friend Candy ❀

The Tiramisu Hero.

The first cafe we visited in the Jalan Besar area.
It was our first time at that area so we didn’t know which route to take, so instead of walking straight, past the Jalan Besar stadium like we should have (since it was the easiest route), we actually walked to the CC instead! Then past the swimming complex and finally found the place…

Ahhh, a pretty lawn right outside (nope, I didn’t take a photo). We would’ve opted sitting outside but it was drizzling so off to the comfort of shelter we go… Also, thanks to the rain, we got a seat immediately! We even managed to switch seats. Hahah.

All over the walls were pictures of their mascot – Sir Antonio.

Ladders on the ceiling?? Interesting….

I love the cover of their menu, back to basics with just black on white.

Oh and before I start on the food… look at this! Thought it was pretty cute, though I didn’t take a photo on the actual snails… heh

Alrighty, off to the food we ordered.
We looked through the menu, back and forth, and decided to order a couple of things to share.

Here’s the almost-cliche over-the-top food picture:

For starters, we had Chunky Mushroom Soup ($6):

The soup was creamy but not overly creamy. Though I thought the star of this dish is, ironically, the garlic bread. It is to die for. I loved it! And you can order it as a side too. I would have but since we already placed our other food orders, I decided to forgo it… ._.

Our main was this Hero Fun Pun Bun ($9.80):

We didn’t see many reviews on this, so we decided to just try for it ourselves. Plus it had a heart next to this, pretty sure that means one of their favorites. Hahah. The pork was succulent and the egg balanced the whole thing so it didn’t get overly saltish with the meat and bacon. Not too bad!

Coffee time!

Candy had the Mocha ($5.50):

And I had the Vanilla Latte ($6.50):

I loved the Vanilla Latte. It’s about the best vanilla latte I’ve had. The aroma of the coffee and the vanilla was so well balanced (not overly sweet!). It was so fragrant and rich! I was in loooooove ❀

For desserts…
We ordered the Waffles Woo ($7) and topped it with Strawberries (+$2).

The waffle is light and fluffy! The strawberries fresh. Simplicity at its best πŸ™‚

And we couldn’t just leave this place without trying their famous tiramisu now can we… Of course not!

We had the Milo Mommahero ($7.50)! Their signature packaging is oh-so-cute and that stamp!!! And it was good too!

Even we had to take a photo each with the cute jar ^-^

Now we’re all fed, it’s time to go… Candy couldn’t resist having a Sir Antonio headshot:

Awww and I thought this was pretty cute:

And that was it!
